Splatter Island Paintball Field
Splatter Island Paintball Field is a new field in the Bridgewater area that is dedicated to creating new players by keeping paintball fun and inexpensive. Paintball is a great safe way to let loose, build team skills and have fun with co-workers, friends and family. Confidence building, critical thinking, teamwork and leadership are all major components of the game.
History
Splatter Island Paintball Field was first opened in June of 2008. It started with a dream back in the summer of 2007. One sunny day when Adam Hirtle and his son Kalvin was walking in the woods behind their house they came upon a area that they felt had potential for a good paintball field. Not long after that, they started cleaning up the under growth, work continued until the spring of 2008. It was in May when they decided to build some bunkers and have a little field ready for the end of the school year. Many hours of work went into the field during May and June to get it ready for the first game to be played at the end of June. For that first game, there were no rentals, no compressed air, only one tank of CO2 and a hand held chronograph. 14 people played on that first day, many of which have grown to become regular weekend players. As the season wore on, another CO2 contract was purchased, 3 scuba tanks for compressed air, more fill stations, a neutral zone was established with many tables built and chairs, 16 rental packages purchased, a building was converted over to a store with a cash register, and most importantly, the field was tripled in size with many more bunkers and buildings built. In early November of 2008, the first organized scenario game, "Dogs of War", hosted by team Devil Dogs was held. In December, Splatter Island Paintball was officially registered as a business.
